Phuketpublicrelations principal Alastair Carthew has decades of experience working as a professional newspaper and television journalist and senior public relations consultant in New Zealand, Britain, South Africa and Australia . He is a former New Zealand correspondent for Newsweek and Chief Parliamentary Reporter for Television New Zealand.
Alastair was Public Affairs Manager at Television New Zealand; Managing Director of Consultus Public Relations; Corporate Affairs Manager [New Zealand] for Air New Zealand and Director [Asia/Pacific] for Star Alliance airline alliance in Bangkok. From 2007 Alastair has administered Star Alliance's global environmental corporate social responsibility project, Biosphere Connections. Alastair has operated his own PR agency on Phuket since 2007.
On Phuket, Alastair has advised leading hospitality, leisure, boating and property companies on Phuket focused PR strategies and contributed his writing skills for media relations, e-newsletters, website text and media features.
Alastair has extensively researched and written about the media in Asia. He has edited and contributed to several books on the subject. He updates the Konrad Adenaeur Foundation " Asia Media Directory " website twice yearly. He has organized and moderated seminars on social and political issues in Asia.
